Hubtown Boxing Club hosted an event Saturday night with some of the finest young fighters in the Maritimes showing their talent.

The Truro Legion provided the venue for Hubtown Boxing Amateur Fight Night, presented to a sold-out crowd that enjoyed a card featuring nine fights, as well as one exhibition bout.

The main event for the evening had hometown favourite Justin Mingo going up against Patrick Gardener of the Warriors Boxing Club of Dartmouth in the 180-lb. division. The two put on quite a show, with the judges picking Gardener winner in a split decision.

In the co-main event – a bout deemed the best fight of the evening – Mitch Redmond of Hubtown and Ron Morrison of Ring 73 in Glace Bay, in the 190-lb. division, traded blow after blow in a spirited matchup that saw Redmond take a unanimous decision.

Other Hubtown boxers on the card included Joanne Moxsom, who dropped a split decision to Breanne Brown of KV Golden Gloves in Quispamsis, N.B., in the 125-lb. division and Destiney Wysote who lost by unanimous decision to Sarah Moldonado, of Bridgewater, who fights with Seaside Boxing, also in the 125-lb. division. Henry Doucet was awarded his 140-lb. division match, due to a scratch.
