CEC hockey team falls in tournament semifinal

TRURO, N.S. – The Cobequid Cougars advanced to the semifinal of the recent Allan Cameron memorial tournament, hosted by North Nova.

The Cougars were doubled 4-2 by the Northumberland Nighthawks in the semifinal contest. Chad Tucker scored both CEC goals and Rylan McIntyre assisted on the markers.

In their opening game, Brent McNamara netted a hat trick in a 6-1 win over Northumberland.

Joe Rector, Justin Ferguson and Luke Smith had other tallies, while assists went to McIntyre (4), Tucker (3), Ferguson, Connor Miller and Cody MacDonald. Zach Parris got the win in nets.

In Game 2, CEC lost 2-1 to Dr. J.H. Gillis Royals. Calum MacLeod had the lone goal and Ben Gibbon played nets.

In their other contest, the Cougars downed North Nova 4-1. Cole Dodsworth, McIntyre, Smith and Hayden Roy scored, and SJ Makkar, Rector, McNamara, Ferguson and Weston Porter had assists. Parris was the winning goaltender.

The Cougars host Dalbrae Thursday, Dec. 1 for a 6:30 p.m. puck drop against Dalbrae.
