YARMOUTH, N.S. – Cameron MacLeod notched a hat trick and Jason Rioux earned the shutout as the Truro Bearcats dismantled the Yarmouth Mariners 6-0 on Friday in the Maritime Junior Hockey League.

The Bearcats led 1-0 after one period and 3-0 after 40 minutes as they cruised to a second straight victory.

Newcomer Nic Blanchard got on the scoresheet with a second-period power-play goal and an assist. Blanchard was acquired from the Valley Wildcats on Wednesday in a five-player deal.

Kyle Tibbo and Riley Baggs also scored for the Bearcats, while Luke MacMillan and Justin Doiron each added two assists.

MacLeod also had a helper for a four-point night and was named the game’s first star. Blanchard was second star.

The Bearcats (18-9-1-1) return to action on Saturday when they host the St. Stephen Aces for a 7 p.m. start at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre.
