FORE! Golf season is here in Truro: two courses are opened this week

NORTH RIVER, N.S.- Spring is finally here, meaning golf courses in Colchester County are beginning to book tee-times. River Run Golf Course opened Tuesday morning.

Tuesday morning at River Run golf course and the sun was shining and spring was in the air. The first group of the season teed off at 9:45 a.m.

Thomas Crowell, Pat Rushton, Kevin Caddell were the second group to tee off at 10:20 a.m.

“Luckily you aren’t taking any videos,” Crowell joked just before taking his mulligan on the first tee.

“We were planning on opening on Wednesday at the latest,” said course manager Sergio Garrido.

“We decided after the weekend it was dry enough so we made the decision around 1:30 p.m. on Monday.”

Greg and Carol Jones, owners of River Run, were working at the course bright and early on Tuesday.

“Now the fun begins,” said Greg.

The golf course in North River is the second course to open in Colchester County this spring.

Fox Hollow Golf Club in Stewiacke opened on Saturday, April 8.

Truro Golf Club is aiming to be open on April 25.
