TRURO – Truro Golf Club member Stephen Locke, who started Thursday's second round five strokes back of Mike Hebb, takes a three-stroke lead into Friday’s final round of the #Golfbeattiestrong Championship, hosted by Truro Golf Club.
Locke, who lives in Brookfield, will be looking to capture his first senior championship today after carding a three-over-par 74 during his second round. He is now five over for the championship with a two-day total of 147.
First round leader Mike Hebb, from Ashburn, struggled Thursday and is now in second place with a two round total of 150. There is a five-way tie for third spot after the second round. Bob Webber, Nelson Thompson of Truro GC, Bill Burns, Gerry MacMillan and Dean Woodman are all within striking distance with two-day totals of 151.
Brightwood member, Bob Webber is currently leading the Super Senior (over-65) and second divisions with a two round total of 77-74 -151.
Oakfield member Rick Gray has a one-stroke lead in the third division with a two-day total of 78-80 - 158.
Truro member Kevin McNaughton is leading the fourth division with rounds of 86-80 - 166.
Competitors are vying for a spot to represent Nova Scotia at the 2017 Canadian Men's Senior Championship. The top three will travel to the Kanawkai Golf in in Montreal, Sept. 11-14 to compete in the Canadian Senior Men's Championship.
