CEC teams still perfect on the pitch

TRURO, N.S. – Cobequid Educational Centre soccer teams kept their perfect records in tact in Northumberland region league action Thursday against the North Nova Gryphons.

In girls’ play, the Cougars got a hat trick from Emily White in a 7-0 romp over the Gryphons to finish their regular season with an undefeated record.

Emma McCulloch, Mykaela Sherry, Grace MacDougall and Baillie Lynds also scored for the Cougars.

Cobequid returns to the pitch today for an exhibition match against Riverview at 2:30 p.m.

In boys’ action, the Cougars defeated the Gryphons 6-1 to remain undefeated.

Connor Grant and Tommaso Batacchi gave CEC a 2-0 halftime lead. Second-half goals were scored by Ben Lauther, Drew Mumford, Tyler MacNeil and Aditiya Kalia. Isaac MacDonald had the lone marker for North Nova.

Northumberland region playoffs for both boys and girls teams begin next week.
