CEC soccer teams post wins over Tigers

TRURO, N.S. – Jill Higgins netted two goals and the Cobequid Cougars cruised to a 5-0 win over the Hants East Tigers Tuesday in Northumberland region high school girls’ soccer action.

Mykaela Sherry, Baillie Lynds and Leah Adams also scored for the Cougars.

CEC is competing in a tournament on P.E.I. today through Saturday. The team plays its next home game on Thursday, Sept. 28.

Meanwhile, the CEC boys’ team downed Hants East 4-0 Tuesday.

Gabriel Tremblay scored in the first half, while Ben Lauther scored two early goals in the second half, before Tyler MacNeil rounded out the scoring.

The Cougars remain in first place with a 3-0 record. They will compete in the Kings-Edgehill tournament this weekend against last year’s provincial champions from Halifax West and silver medallists Park View.
