CEC cross-country athletes earn provincial berths

TRURO, N.S. – Members of the Cobequid Cougars cross-country team are preparing for the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation championship next week in Halifax.

The Cougars turned in strong performances at the recent regional championship at St. FX in Antigonish to book a spot at provincials.

In the senior girls division, Kathryn MacQuarrie led the way with a fifth-place finish, followed by Mira Alexander (10th), Jordan McNutt (11th), Cameryn Mattie (12th), Tara Cashen (13th), Akari Shinada (15th) and Melanie Scott (19th).

The CEC boys were led by Tesean Clyke, who finished 10th, Keifer Labelle (13th), Hunter Kerr-Edwards (18th), Alex McDonah (23rd), Alex Robben (28th), Gaelan MacKay (29th) and Mark Carroll (34th).

Members of both senior teams will compete at the provincial level in the team category.

In the Intermediate category, Cole Armstrong finished 10th and Katie Archibald was 12th, which earned their individual spots next week.
