Wilson sparks Pirates to first win of the season

TRURO, N.S. – Zach Wilson smacked an inside-the-park homerun, singled and picked up four RBI as the Pirates earned their first win of the season Wednesday, a 10-4 victory over the Yankees, in the Bible Hill-Truro Minor Baseball Association’s peewee/bantam division.

Lucas Kelly pitched two innings for the Pirates and helped his cause by scoring a pair of runs. Liam Swan also threw two innings and recorded three strikeouts.

Zach McNutt, Joseph Asselstine, Luke Taylor, Ben Fiddes, Robert Holmes and Keegan Skinner singled for the Yankees, while Taylor, Sam Walker and McNutt took the hill.

Great Village Tide 11, Red Sox 2

Five Great Village pitchers combined to strike out eight batters.

Elijah Stewart went 3-for-3 at the plate for the winners, while Cameron Myatt went 2-for-2.  

Mike Berry, Zach Gloade, Logan MacKinnon and Braden Ledbetter pitched for the Red Sox, and Carson Upham delivered a big hit in his debut.  

Blue Jays 6, Mets 2

Blue Jays pitchers Jake McDonald, Isaac Crowe and Gage Pratt combined to strike out seven batters and walk just one, while Mets pitchers Ryan Hennessey and Owen Carr struck out five.

McDonald led the Jays at the dish with three singles, while Pratt added a pair of hits.

Jase Langille singled and tripled for the Mets and Brody Porter singled and doubled.
