MacPherson named NSIBL most valuable player

TRURO, N.S. – Joe MacPherson of the D&D Bookkeeping Truro Bearcats has been named the Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League’s most valuable player.

Logan Dowe of the Bearcats was named NSIBL all-star pitcher and was also named to the league’s Gold Glove Team.

MacPherson finished third in league batting with a .480 average. He led the league in home runs with six and RBI with 26. He also sported a .595 on base percentage.

MacPherson was also a co-winner of the league all-star award at third base.

MacPherson’s Truro teammate, Logan Dowe, was named an all-star pitcher and a member of the Gold Glove Team.

Individual awards were presented at the league’s championship tournament last weekend.

The Noel Road Jays won the league title, defeating the Hantsport Shamrocks 8-5 in the title game on Sunday.

The Bearcats finished the season with a record of 9-16 and failed to make the playoffs.

Noel Road, Windsor and Hantsport will now turn their attention to the Nova Scotia intermediate AAA championship, being hosted by Noel Road this weekend.

Three other teams from the Halifax Regional Municipality will also be competing.
