TRURO, N.S.

It was a weekend of choreographed flips, rolls and dances as cheerleaders took over the Rath-Eastlink Community Centre on Saturday and Sunday.

More than 90 cheerleading teams from across the Maritimes converged on Truro for the second annual Central Nova Cheer Competition, which saw teams bring their best to the cheer pad in hopes of taking home a trophy.

The competition ran for two days, and included teams from Halifax, Cumberland County, Annapolis Valley and Cape Breton, among others.

Teams competed in different age groups and were given a set amount of time to perform their routine on the cheer pad, which was then scored by a panel of judges.

The competition wrapped up on Sunday with routines by the prep and performance teams, and an award ceremony wrapped up the day.
