TRURO – In a season full of highlights, the Truro Tigers achieved their biggest on Sunday.
The Tigers earned a third-place finish in the small youth, small gym Group A category at the Universal Cheerleading Association International All-Star Championship in Kissimmee, Fla.
The result is the latest in a season of successes for the Tigers, an 18-member Youth Level 1 invitational squad formed by the Truro All-Star Cheerleading Company. The Tigers have won all three competitions they've entered in the Maritimes. They've also laid claim to the level champions title - the highest Level 1 points total, regardless of age - on two occasions, and claimed the most innovative choreography award once.
Paradise Cheer from Cape Coral, Fla., won the group while the All-Star Panthers of Ridgeland, SC., finished in the runner-up spot. The River City All-Stars of Jacksonville, Fla., were fourth. Triple Crown Elite of Barbourville, Ky., and the Fabulocity All-Stars of Orange, N.J., rounded out the group.
The international all-star championship is an annual, two-day event, which attracts teams from all over the globe and is held at several locations across Walt Disney World.
The competition will be broadcast on CBS Sports on May 25 at 1 p.m. and performances can be found on the competition's website www.varsity.com.
The Tigers, along with TACC's other youth and senior squads, are back in action April 5 and 6 at Deep Freeze, hosted by Integrity Cheer Elite in Kentville.
