James "Jim" Sutton

Sutton, James “Jim”, 82, Truro, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born February 16, 1936 in Northfield, New Jersey, USA, he was a son of the late James and Frances (Conway) Sutton. Jim spent 20 years in the submarine service with the United States Navy where he trained as an Electronic Engineer. He also served in the Vietnam War in 1970-71. During his career, Jim received many distinctions from the Navy. Following his retirement, Jim worked at many jobs including his small engine repair shop in Maitland. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Velma (Hatfield) Sutton; son James Roger of South Maitland; daughters, Hope Elizabeth Workman (Terry) of South Maitland, Christine Ella Sutton (Dan Gayler) of Barrie, ON, Jill Frances Sutton of Maitland; grandchildren, John, Jocelyn, Alex, Dimick, Ella, Fausta, Daniel “DJ”, Jennifer; 5 great-grandchildren; cousins. Jim’s remains have been donated to Medical Science. No visitation or funeral service by family request. A family and friend get together will take place on Saturday, June 9th from 1-3 pm in the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Hall, Maitland. Donations in memory may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church or to a charity of choice.
