BIBLE HILL, N.S.

A complaint about an erratic driver on Highway 104 in Masstown resulted in the arrest of a 75-year-old woman on contraband tobacco and alcohol charges.

RCMP spokesman Cpl. Marc Rose said police responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. Sunday about an erratic driver travelling in a minivan on Hwy 104. Shortly after, police located and searched the vehicle in Lower Truro.

The search resulted in the seizure of 13 bottles of illegal alcohol, 21 cases of unstamped tobacco, duty-paid tobacco exceeding the allowed limit and approximately $2,000 in cash.

The woman is facing charges of possession of unstamped tobacco, selling unstamped tobacco products and charges under the Canada Revenue Act.

The woman, whose name has not yet been released, is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Truro on May 9.
