The Colchester Home Show, which started on Friday and will run Saturday and Sunday, will give people an opportunity to gather ideas for what projects they can do in the summer, and see what's available.

"People come here in planning mode," said Scott Sprague, show manager at the RECC.

As booths were being set up on Friday, Sprague said the trend this season is energy efficiency, as people look for ways to save money and help the Earth in the process.

"That's the hot topic for this year."

Ronnie McNutt is at the show to promote heat pumps available through his company, Truro Heating and Ventilation.

"I'm here with my heat pumps and thermal storage options," McNutt said as he prepared his booth on Friday.

Although this is the only home show McNutt brings his company to, he sees it as a boost to advertise in his own town.

"It definitely helps my business."
