Benoit Lebel is walking across Canada to raise funds for the Children’s Wish Foundation. On Thursday, he passed through Truro.

Lebel has raised more than $2,000 since his journey began on March 12 in St. John’s, N.L.

The last couple weeks the weather has been much better and has made for more enjoyable travelling. When he began, it was minus 15C with 50km winds.

Lebel passed through Pictou County before coming to Truro. Next up: Bedford, Moncton, Halifax and eventually, P.E.I.

“I like to start early in the morning and I’ll walk about 20 kilometres,” he said. “Then I may start hitchhiking.”

Lebel hopes to raise $30,000 during his trip. Those interested in donating can visit www.wishwalk.ca, You can also follow along on social media.
