Local projects seeking community votes


TRURO – Four local projects are hoping for assistance through the Aviva Community Fund.

The voting round has begun and people can cast 18 votes at any time, until Oct. 28. The 30 ideas with the most votes in their category and funding level will go on to be finalists.

The Aviva Community Fund has provided more than $6.5 million to projects during the past seven years.

To vote for a local initiative go to https://www.avivacommunityfund.org/ and search for the project title.

Colchester Food Bank

The food bank needs funding to build a new facility in Truro.

Funding level: $50,000-$100,000

Debert Skate Park

The community of Debert hopes to build a skate park on land the county has agreed to provide.

North Shore Recreation Centre

The rink surface needs to be replaced in order to keep the skating area open.

Truro Skate Park

Truro needs an extension for its skatepark. The goal is to add 6,021 more feet to the existing park, making it more accessible to beginners.
