Doug MacInnes, with Wilson Home Heating, is preparing for the 2015 Colchester County Home Show, which runs from April 10 to 12 at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre. MacInnes says the home show is always beneficial to the business, with new and current customers inquiring about products.

Doug MacInnes, with Wilson Home Heating, said attending the home show is a tradition, and one he won’t miss.

“We get a lot of direct sales from it,” MacInnes said, about the home show that runs Friday to Sunday at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre. “Actually, Monday right after the home show is a hectic day. We’re doing all of our follow up calls that day.”

Presented by the Truro and Colchester Chamber of Commerce, the event will feature a variety of exhibitors, including Central Nova Concrete Repairs, Enviro Water Technologies, Amigos Roofing, and Beautiful Baths Renovations, among many others.

“It doesn't cost the business, it’s an investment,” said MacInnes.

For the past two years, the home show has been showcased at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre, with thousands going through the doors during the three-day event.

MacInnes said there are a few new clients that will visit his business, but the majority are old or current customers.

“A lot are our own customers coming to see what’s new,” he said, adding heat pumps get a lot of attention. “A lot of our customers don’t realize we offer heat pumps.”

He said there won’t be anything new to display this year, however, today’s technology is better than last year.

“It’s the same equipment, but it’s newer and the technology is better.”

Throughout the three days, MacInnes said his favourite aspect of the home show is getting a chance to talk to people.

“It’s kind of like old home week. A lot of our customers will drop by to see us.”

With the spring construction season soon upon us, the home show is a chance for those building or renovating to see what’s out there, all under one roof.

“This show is ideally timed to help visitors make informed decisions about the home improvement projects they’re considering,” said Scott Sprague, show manager. “Whether they’re just looking for a little inspiration or have done their research and planning and are ready to start booking services, the Colchester County Home Show is here to help.”

There will be a number of door prizes given away this year, including two professionally-installed trees and a cubic yard of bark mulch, courtesy of Land’s Best Friend Landscaping and Mighty Mini Excavating, and many others.
