A report of a shed fire on Riverside Avenue came in around 6:30 a.m. It quickly spread, resulting in firefighters from Bible Hill, Truro, Valley-Kemptown and Salmon River being called out.
“When we arrived on the scene the fire was fully involved,” said Bible Hill Fire Chief Dwane Mellish. “There were people in the houses but everyone is out and safe.”
Nova Scotia Power arrived and disconnected electricity in the area during the morning.
“I live on Queen Street and could see the fire from my place shortly after 7,” said Terry Rushton, a former volunteer firefighter who walked down to the site. “When I saw the Truro ladder truck go by I knew it was bad.”
Main Street closed to traffic between College Rd. and the bridge so that emergency vehicles could move freely.
