PRIEST’S POND – A tree cut down by a beaver apparently caused a car crash in Priest’s Pond, King’s County, on Saturday.

In what even the RCMP is calling an unusual incident, a tree suddenly fell across the road on Highway 16 at about 2 p.m. that day, right into the path of a Toyota Rav4.

The car had a family of four in it, the children are one and two years old. All were uninjured, but were shaken by the incident.

When RCMP examined the scene they found that the tree had apparently been gnawed down by a beaver.

The family was visiting from Quebec and their vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

The beaver, the RCMP report, is still at large.
