Mechanical failure not the cause of fatal bus crash on Cabot Trail

Canadian Press - The RCMP has ruled out mechanical failure in a bus that crashed in Cape Breton on Sunday, killing a Pennsylvania tourist in her 70s.

That's according to Executive Coach, the charter company that owns the bus.

The company said it continues to work with police as they try to determine how the bus carrying 20 passengers went off the road on the Cabot Trail highway.

The Pennsylvania company said it will use the RCMP's findings as part of its own investigation into the first fatality involving one if its buses.

The Mounties have said 10 people were hurt when the bus landed on its side about three kilometres south of Neil's Harbour.

Executive Coach said it is ensuring everyone on the tour returns home safely. It said it had arranged for a bus to pick up any passengers who are unable or unwilling to take a flight.
