TRURO - A woman arrested last Thursday in Debert on a number of warrants connected to a shooting on New Year's Day in Millbrook is scheduled to appear in provincial court June 25 to enter a plea.

Macquel Lynn Weatherbee, 25, of 838 Crowes Mills Rd., has been remanded into custody following the arrest until her next court appearance.

An arrest warrant was issued for Weatherbee after she failed to appear in provincial court for a Feb. 26 hearing.

She is charged along with Robert Edgar Paul, 21, of Indian Brook, for a New Year's Day shooting that saw two men being injured.

Weatherbee is facing a number of charges, including that of assisting Paul to escape while knowing he had attempted to murder Richard Hillary Johnson, administering bear spray to Johnson with intent to annoy and for carrying a weapon (the bear spray).

Paul is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault against Johnson as well as several weapons offences.

He is scheduled for trial on Sept. 3, 4 and 5.
