School board still awaiting information on a new Bible Hill elementary school

BIBLE HILL – Information on where a new school in Bible Hill will be erected has still not been revealed by the government, says a Chignecto-Central Regional School Board representative.

Herb Steeves, director or operations, confirmed with the Truro Daily News that the school board is still waiting for information from the provincial government as to where and when a school to replace Bible Hill Central and Bible Hill East Court Road elementary schools will open.

“We have no idea,” when the information will be forthcoming, said Steeves.

Originally, the primary to Grade 4 school was slated to open this year or next. The process hit a snag in January when the government indicated the school board was not compliant with the Education Act by only recommending two sites for the new school. The province requested three options.

The school board sent three options to the Department of Education in April and is “still waiting on action from the province,” said Steeves.

“It’s up to the minister to decide … the process is following through,” he said.
