Assault/drug charges lead to fine and suspended sentence for Murray Siding man

TRURO – A Murray Siding man who pled guilty to assaulting a woman with a pellet gun and possessing marijuana was fined $600 and placed on 24-months probation.

Matthew James Dickie, 25, of 39 Greenfield Rd., also received a suspended sentence and 50 hours community service for the assault charge and for uttering death threats against the woman.

His probation terms include being assessed for and taking counselling as directed for alcohol consumption, drug use, anger management and psychological/mental health issues.

Dickie was further placed under a five-year firearms/weapons ban, is not permitted to possess or consume/use alcohol or illicit drugs and is to have no contact with Katherine Sutherland during his probation term.
