TRURO – About 40 francophone students from across Nova Scotia descended on the town late last week for Frogstock 2014.

The Centre communautaire francophone de Truro and Ecole acadienne de Truro hosted the four-day event that saw the students receive training in the arts, including improvisation, dance, music and visual arts.

ACA-Jam, the youth band from the Centre communautaire, participated in the event and took home the ‘people’s choice’ award, as well as ‘grand winner of Frogstock 2014 for music.’ The latter award includes a demo recording at Radio Canada in Moncton and a bursary for Université de Moncton, should they choose to attend.

Nicole North, a Grade 9 student from Ecole acadienne de Truro, won both ‘people’s choice’ and ‘grand prize’ for improvisation.

The event culminated with a show and exhibition held Saturday night at the centre’s black box.
