MIDDLETON, N.S. — A two-storey garage containing a vehicle was destroyed by fire in Middleton, Colchester County, on Friday.
“The garage is a total loss,” said Mark Langille, chief of the Tatamagouche Fire Department. “It’s still standing, but fire gutted the interior.”
Langille said there were no casualties in the fire that was reported at 11 a.m. on Jan. 3.
Approximately 25 firefighters from Tatamagouche, River John, North River and Wallace responded to the blaze, which was under control by 11:30 a.m. Firefighters remained on scene at 1327 Upper River John Rd. until about 2 p.m.
Langille said the blaze was caused by a faulty wood stove.
The garage’s floor space measured about 7 metres by 11 metres and contained an older-model Toyota Corolla, also destroyed in the fire, Langille said.
The garage was located next door to a house, which went undamaged.
Langille said the garage was not insured.
