While the official grand opening of West End Family PharmaChoice (WeFP) is set for June 27, the doors are wide open. This new pharmacy is the second location for owners Deborah Ellis and Sandeep Sodhi, both dispensing and injection-certified pharmacists, who collectively have 50 years’ experience as community pharmacists. Village Family PharmaChoice (VFP), the original Bible Hill location, will continue to serve its loyal customers from far and wide, says Sandeep. “We have just expanded our Brand to include a new and much larger pharmacy in downtown Truro. We are not closing or moving VFP!”

Because the new store is almost double the size of the original Bible Hill location, Sandeep and Deborah plan to offer a variety of new products, including a larger Home Health Care Centre with a variety of new mobility aids and other health-care products. “If we don’t have what you want in stock, we can usually get it for you in a few days,” says Sandeep.

Now, with two locations, Sandeep and Deborah are eager to be able to provide their same style of friendly service to another part of our local community, including businesses and residents in the “West End” of Truro. “Our original concept when opening our first primary care pharmacy in Bible Hill was to work closely with new patients and collaborate with the physicians next door to offer seamless pharmacy care and medication management,” says Sandeep.

The new pharmacy in Eagle’s Landing was intentionally located beside a busy family medical practice and it has the added advantage and synergy of being next to a dental practice. “So, when both clinics are open, there will be access to the pharmacy through adjoining doors. These doors will remain open so that if you are at the doctor’s office, you can easily leave their waiting area and wander over to the pharmacy to get your prescription filled or buy some OTC products etc.,” he adds.

What is great about having the two locations, Sandeep says, is that our Pharmacy Team will have easy access to important medical information between all of the health centres, for joint patients. You can simply authorize the pharmacy to set up a file at either of their two locations, and it will save you time when you come in for a prescription.

Another bonus of being beside a dental practice is that while people are waiting to see their dentist or hygienist, they can browse at the pharmacy for basic over-the-counter essentials, as well as health and beauty products. “If you require an antibiotic before your dental procedure, we can help with that. If you require special oral-care products that your dental professional recommends, just come back after your appointment as well,” he adds.

VFP currently offers customers one-stop health-care services, including foot care, orthotics and blood collection and these services will eventually be offered at the new West End location. Both locations also have after-hours pharmacist on-call service.

PharmaChoice has over 800 stores all across Canada. If you register for the free PharmaChoice Rx2Go app, not only will you have access to your medical information in case of emergency but you can order prescription refills through the app.

Deborah is also a Certified Diabetes Educator and has been able to help many of our current patients with diabetes management and to stay healthy, something she intends to offer to patients of West End Family PharmaChoice. Additional services also include travel health consultations, injections, weight loss management and medication reviews. Appointments can be booked by calling either location.

Village Family PharmaChoice will continue to be open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with blood collection services from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. West End Family PharmaChoice is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and for patient convenience, it will remain open until 9 p.m. on days when the West End Medical Centre has evening hours. Both locations offer easy access and parking.

Come and join us at WeFP on June 27 for our grand opening!
