Lenore Zann and Gavin Quinn are inviting everyone to join them for a toe-tapping kitchen party that will raise funds for a couple of good causes.
Lenore & Friends Kitchen Party will be held at the Truro branch of the Royal Canadian Legion on Nov. 24, 7 p.m. to midnight.
“It’s a really good reason to bring a lot of people together for a good time,” said Quinn. “We’re getting mental health out on the front lines and we’re celebrating it, and that’s a beautiful thing.”
Solo musicians and bands will perform during the evening, and Outsider Insight, an art collective for people battling mental health issues, will have a silent art auction. Outsider Insight merchandise will also be available.
“We want to bring more public awareness to mental health issues and destigmatize mental illness,” said Zann. “We want youth to take part in this event. There will be no alcohol upstairs. It’s a chance for people to hear the new talent that’s bubbling up in Truro, along with some well-known names.”
The kitchen party is sponsored by the Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River NDP electoral district association and money from ticket sales will go to the association, Outsider Insight and the Truro-area chapter of Autism NS.
Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at MacQuarries on the Esplanade. Tickets, and Outsider Insight merchandise, will also be available Saturday at the Truro Farmers’ Market.
