Vimy Oak growing in Bible Hill
Bible Hill, NS- A little piece of Vimy Ridge is now growing on the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus in Bible Hill.
TRURO, N.S. - Summer can be the most difficult time of year for food banks to keep enough food in store. That’s why Every Plate Full, Canada’s largest food drive, takes place in May.
To help fight hunger, Sun Spun Natural Food, 583 Prince St., will be accepting food donations from May 18 to June 9. People are encouraged to bring healthy items like fruit juice, dried or canned fruits and vegetables, lentils, beans, chickpeas, unsalted nuts and seeds, peanut butter (or other nut butters), whole grain (or alternative grain) foods, low-sugar cereals, and soy, almond or rice milk – but no donations will be turned away.
Any food brought in will go to the Colchester Food Bank.
Monetary donations will also be accepted. Funds received through the store will go directly to the local food bank. Money donated online, at https://livehealthygivehealthy.com/ , is matched dollar for dollar and goes to Food Banks Canada for use across the county.
