James Hill, Anne Janelle to provide musical entertainment

Archway Counselling Association is throwing a party. To mark the group’s 20th year in 2014, the association is organizing a banquet and concert at the Best Western Plus Glengarry on Feb. 6.

The concert features James Hill and Anne Janelle, two proud Brookfield residents. Hill was introduced to the ukulele in school in B.C. and went on to perform with the renowned Langley Ukulele Ensemble. Hill went on to receive a Bachelor of Music from UBC in 2002. His concerts and inspirational music seminars are enjoyed worldwide. His songwriting has recently been recognized as possibly even better than his incredible ukulele playing with his latest CD, Man With a Love Song.

Janelle has been playing the cello since the age of eight and went on to earn her Master's degree in cello performance in Ottawa, before joining Hill in 2009 and becoming an amazing duo. Recent successful tours to Brazil, Italy, Thailand and Australia demonstrate the love of their music everywhere.

Last summer, the group was given the choice of attending the Tattoo in Halifax or travelling to Hawaii… they selected Halifax and put on an amazing performance.

Throughout it 20 years, Archway Counselling has employed an income-based sliding scale, which allows many to find help they might not otherwise be able to receive. Five therapists are now working in the Truro office and there are also affiliate offices in Westville and Lower Sackville.

Eight years ago Archway expanded its services with the creation of SLATE, a youth drop-in centre operating on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays after school. There is no cost to attend.

The banquet and silent auction gets underway at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Archway Office, 893-3991, or at MacQuarrie's Pharmasave on the Esplanade. Tickets are $40 for the banquet and concert or $300 for a table of eight.
