Rams hoops teams finish near bottom of tip-off tourney

BIBLE HILL - The NSAC Rams men were winless while the women finished fifth on the weekend at the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association Basketball Tip-Off Tournament.
The men were 0-3 and finished last in the four-team men's pool, while the women posted a 1-2 record in the six-team women's division.
The men finished the event with a 56-50 setback to the Kings Blue Devils. Jonathan Kennedy pumped in 12 points for the Rams with nine more from Thomas Teakles.
The NSAC opened the tournament with a 76-57 loss to the Crandall Blue Tide. Kennedy led with 11 points and Keegan Fiske drained 11.
The Rams also suffered a 68-57 loss to the Mount Allison Mounties. Fiske netted 19 points and Chris Oram collected nine. Kings won the men's division at 3-0.
The women defeated the Holland College Hurricanes 61-53 in their fifth-place game. Kelsey Harpman led the Rams with 16 points while Meagan MacLeod had 14.
The Rams opened the tournament with a 71-65 setback to the Kings. Patti Gilroy led the Rams with 21 points with Harpman draining 19.
The Rams then fell 75-42 to the St. Thomas Tommies. Jessica Leck collected nine points and MacLeod buried eight. St. Thomas won the title with a 71-36 win over Mount Allison in the final.
Both Rams teams open the ACAA regular season Nov. 11 at Kings.
