Atom AAA Bearcats win tournament

TRURO - The Truro Atom AAA Makkar PPM Bearcats captured the recent Alan Sullivan minor hockey tournament in Cape Breton.
The Bearcats downed Sackville
8-3 in the final behind a six-point effort by Ben Higgins, who scored four goals and assisted on two others.
Brent McNamara added two goals and two helpers, while other scorers were Matt Smith and Cam Allaby. Cam Patton, with two, Jared McIsaac, Julia Scammell and Julia Schmitt had assists.
In semifinal action, the Bearcats defeated Glace Bay 4-1. Higgins, Patton, Cole Fielding and Christian Huntley scored for the Cats, while Higgins, Sanjeev Makkar and Jared Weatherbee had assists.
Truro opened the tournament with a 1-1 tie against Chebucto. Higgins scored, assisted by Huntley and McNamara.
In Game 2, the Bearcats dumped the Northside Vikings 4-1. Higgins, McIsaac, G. Blackmore and Marc Aucoin were the scorers, while assists went to Fielding, Smith, Patton and Jake Joudrey.
In Truro's other contest, it was a 6-3 victory over Sydney. Higgins and McIsaac led the way with a pair of goals each, while Allaby and Smith fired single markers. Weatherbee, with two, Huntley, McIsaac, Makkar and Joudrey had helpers.
Alec MacDonald and Jack Lynds played well in nets.
