Malally gets the ball Sunday against Wildcats
TRURO - The Truro Bearcats push for the playoffs heats up Sunday when they host the Kentville Wildcats.
The Bearcats (6-11) find themselves in last place in the five-team Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League standings.
"All the teams between us and second place are within two games of each other. We are into the second half of the season and these are games we need to have," said coach Scott MacGillivray.
The team dropped a pair of close games last weekend in Sydney and is looking to get back on track and into the win column.
The Wildcats (8-9) come to Truro following an 11-1 victory in seven innings Wednesday in Halifax.
Brandon Malally gets the start Sunday for Truro.
"He's had a couple good starts the last little while and we expect another one where he goes deep in to the game," MacGillivray said.
The big lefthander leads Truro in innings pitched this season with 37.
The offence, particularly the power, has been improving during the last few weeks and the coach said the team would have to do whatever is necessary Sunday to plate enough wins for a key victory.
The Bearcats host the Halifax Canadians Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the TAAC Grounds.
