'Hammer' swings hot bat as Physio One collects pair of victories

BIBLE HILL - Donnie Cameron had a three-hit night, including a home run and a triple, to propel Physio One to a 6-3 victory over Maple Leaf Seamless Eavestroughing in recent Bud Light Truro and District Mixed Slo-Pitch League action.

Todd (Hammer) Webb was 3-for-3 while Krista Crowe had two hits.

Physio One won their second game of the week, defeating Upham Family Outlet 19-8 behind a five-run first inning. Kristen Langille was 3-for-4 with an inside the park homerun, a double and a single.

Christian Deveau was 4-for-4 with a homerun, triple, and two doubles. Webb was 4-for-4 while Theresa Johnson was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a single. Langille pitched both games for the winners.

 

Martell goes deep in Bearcats victory

TRURO - Riley Martell hit a grand slam over the fence at Victoria Park Saturday to lead the Truro Newmac Bearcats to a 12-4 victory over the previously undefeated Hammonds Plains A's in mosquito AA baseball action.

Zack Betts, Jackson Haight, Ryan Rath and Jarod MacDonald all went 2-for-3 with pairs of singles. Brooke Mingo added a double while Dawson Briggs and Connor Angers singled. Mingo and Briggs fanned 11 A's.

Truro swept the doubleheader with an 11-4 victory in the second game that improves the Cats to 4-0 on the season.

Mackie Marquis pounded out a triple and double in two at bats to lead the way.

Briggs doubled and singled and Betts had a pair of singles, while Haight and MacDonald both doubled.

Chad Mingo, Brooke Mingo, Rath and Martell all singled. Haight and Martell combined to strikeout 10 batters to pick up the win.

The Bearcats travel to Riverview, N.B. this weekend for the Bob Donahoe Memorial Mosquito Tournament where they will face the Halifax Braves AAA team, which won the Atlantic championship last year, as well as the Fredericton Royals AAA, which won the New Brunswick provincial championship last year, and the Summerside Chevy's AAA mosquito teams.
