HALIFAX - There'll be no cabers tossed in Halifax this summer.
After 40 years, organizers of the Halifax Highland Games are throwing in the towel, saying they can't raise the few thousand dollars more they need to foot the $50,000 event.
Games spokesman John Cody said Tuesday the festival is cancelled for this year but they're hoping to be back when the International Gathering of the Clans is held here next year.
Organizers have raised about $45,000 but have failed to secure more sponsors.
Cody said even if more sponsors come forward, it may be too late to get this year's event organized.
