TRURO – Colleen Pinkney scored her first win at the Canadian Senior Women’s Curling Championship in Sunday’s late draw.

The Truro Curling Club skip, along with Wendy Currie, Shelley MacNutt and Susan Creelman, defeated Vicky Barrett (1-3) of Northern Ontario 8-5 to improve to 1-2.

Pinkney is currently in action against Manitoba’s Lois Fowler (4-0).

Pinkney, the defending national champ who also won the event in 2009 and laid claim to a world title in 2010, was locked in a 4-4 draw with Barrett after seven ends before breaking the game open with three in the eighth. She added a single in the ninth for an 8-4 cushion before Barrett scored a single in the 10th end.
