Tigers men lose volleyball opener at nationals, women start today

CALGARY - The Dalhousie Tigers are playing for placement for the rest of the CIS men's volleyball championship in Calgary.

The Tigers, with Colchester County players Adam Sandeson (Lower Truro), Kristen O'Brien (Truro) and Logan Baillie (Onslow Mountain), were blanked 3-0 by the Laval Rouge et Or Wednesday in their opener at the national championship.

O'Brien recorded seven kills and five digs while Sandeson made 10 digs.

The setback sets up a match with the Montreal Carabins, who were blanked 3-0 Wednesday by the Alberta Golden Bears, today at 3:30 p.m. Atlantic time.

The women's championship kicks off today in Regina. The Tigers are also at that event with North River's Rachel Wright.

Dalhousie opens at 3 p.m. against he Trinity Western Mustangs.
