HALIFAX - The Dalhousie Tigers blanked the Saint Mary's Huskies 3-0 in Sunday's AUS women's volleyball final in a match featuring three Colchester County players.
The Tigers, with North River resident and middle Rachel Wright, successfully defended their crown with a 25-10, 25-17, 25-20 victory. Dalhousie is the first team to win back-to-back titles since the Huskies in 2006 and 2007.
The Huskies, who last won the title in 2011-12 feature Truro natives and sisters Anastasia and Shea Lynn Callaghan, both liberos.
Dalhousie finished first in the regular season standings with a 12-4 record.
Anastasia, a fourth-year science student, recently became the first player in history to claim three consecutive conference libero of the year honours and was also named to the conference all-star team. She led both the conference and the CIS this season with 380 digs and was also tops nationally in digs per set with 5.59.
