Pictou County ousted from major midget playoffs by Newbridge

NEW GLASGOW - The major midget hockey season has come to an end for Pictou County.

Pictou County fell 3-1 to the Newbridge Gladiators Saturday in Game 6 of their Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League quarter-final playoff series. The result gave Newbridge a 4-2 victory in the best-of-seven affair.

The Gladiators move on to meet the Cole Harbour Wolfpack in the semifinal.

Cody Johnston notched the lone Pictou County tally on the powerplay with help from Mark Vokey and Lucas Sangster. Truro's Luke Melanson made 54 saves in the Pictou County crease.

The roster also includes Truro's Noah Archibald, Matthieu Fougere, Lucas Rushton and Michael Stuart and Bible Hill resident Lucas Holman.

Pictou County dropped the first two games of the series before battling back with 7-1 and 6-5 wins.
