Cougars put up solid results in high school hockey

TRURO - The Cobequid Cougars posted a 2-1 record in their most recent string of Northern Nova Scotia Hockey League boys high school contests.

The Cougars finished the set with a 6-1 victory over the Strait Area Saints after falling 5-4 to the Amherst Vikings. The run started with an 8-3 win over the Dalbrae Dragons.

The Cougars are back in action Thursday when they host the East Hants Tigers at 6:30 p.m. at Colchester Legion Stadium.

Against the Saints, Brady Meech provided the Cougars with a pair of goals while others came from Austin Wheeler, Matt Laing, Alex McNutt and Mitch LeBlanc. Meech, Brady Davis and Richard MacNevin each added two assists and Sebastien Gibson was the winning goaltender.

Against Amherst, Cobequid got goals from Aaron Coleman, Bradley Gallant, Wheeler and Meech and Tristan Clark chipped in two helpers. Blake Meech suffered the loss between the pipes.

Brady Meech pumped three goals into the Dalbrae net and added an assist. Ethan Hume, Kylar Frank, Laing, Wheeler and Gallant also scored and Frank and Macnevin had two assists each. Gibson picked up the win.
