TRURO - Philip Fife's three goals and three assists helped push the Truro Bearcats past the Woodstock Slammers, 11-2, at home on Saturday.
Daniel Perigo picked up a goal and three assists in the win in front of 622 fans, which brings the Truro squad to 20-8-0-2.
Riley Craft opened the scoring at 14:40 to give the Slammers a 1-0 lead. Mitchell Robillard scored on the powerplay at 17:17 to tie the game at 1-1. Fife scored 30 seconds later at 17:47 to give the Bearcats a 2-1 lead after the first period.
Fife's second goal, and the game winner, came 22 seconds into the middle frame to extend the lead to 3-1. Fife scored his hat trick at 7:56 to increase the lead to 4-1.
Massimo Matteau scored at 9:04 to cut the lead to 4-2. David Mosher scored at 11:56 to extend the lead to 5-2. Kyle Tibbo scored at 14:04 to increase the lead to 6-2.
Mosher (second goal of game) scored at 18:47 to make the score 7-2 after the second period. Daniel Poliziani scored at 3:49 to extend the lead to 8-2. Jeff Hanes scored at 5:46 to increase the lead to 9-2. Robillard (second goal of game) scored at 6:51 to widen the lead to 10-2.
Perigo rounded out the scoring at 13:44.
Truro went one for two on the powerplay while Woodstock went zero for one.
Jacob Fancy stopped 28 of 29 shots for the win while Matt Jenkins (34:02) stopped 17 of 23 shots in the loss before being replaced by Tyler Snow. Snow (25:58) stopped 12 of 17 shots the rest of the game.
The Bearcats travel to Summerside on Sunday for a game against the Western Capitals at 4 p.m.
