TRURO - The Truro Bearcats were defeated 3-1 by the Newbridge Senators on the weekend in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.

The Bearcats were also scheduled to host the Nova Jr. X-Men (13-7-2) Sunday at RECC, but the game was postponed due to poor travel conditions.

The Bearcats (2-17-4), who sit 11th in the 12-team league, fall four points behind the Senators (5-16-2).

G. Blackmore notched the lone Truro tally on the powerplay with help from Austin McBurnie and Kansas Hart.

Jack Lynds surrendered a pair of goals on six shots while Alec MacDonald made 26 saves in splitting time in the Truro crease.

The Bearcats take on the X-Men Jan. 4 in Port Hawkesbury.
