TRURO – Zach Sill is back in the NHL.

Zach Sill

The 25-year-old native of Birch Hill was called up by the Pittsburgh Penguins late Sunday from their American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Joining him was teammate Andrew Ebbett.

Sill, a six-foot-two, 202-pound forward, joined the NHL club for their morning skate this morning as it prepares to take on the Boston Bruins at 8 p.m. Atlantic time. The game will be broadcast on NESN, RDS and ROOT.

Sill skated on the left wing in practice with Joe Vitale and Craig Adams.

The Penguins are missing both Beau Bennett and Tanner Glass due to injuries.

Sill had been returned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday after spending a week with Pittsburgh and making his NHL debut Nov. 16 against the New Jersey Devils. He made a pair of hits in 9:10 of ice time, which included 1:11 on the penalty kill.

He was then made a healthy scratch for games against Anaheim and Washington.

Sill has spent the past five seasons with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and has four points (1G, 3A) in 13 games this season. He appeared in two preseason games for the NHL club in September.

He signed a one-year, two-way deal with Pittsburgh in July worth US$550,000 at the NHL level.
