TRURO - Zach Sill's stay with the Pittsburgh Penguins is over for now.
The 25-year-old native of Birch Hill was sent back to the Penguins' American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton the NHL squad announced on Friday.
Sill was called up to Pittsburgh on Nov. 15 and played his NHL debut the following night against the New Jersey Devils, making a pair of hits in 9:10 of ice time. He also saw 1:11 on the penalty kill.
He was then made a healthy scratch for games against Anaheim and Washington.
The six-foot-two, 202-pound forward, has spent the past five seasons with Pittsburgh's AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and has four points (1G, 3A) in 13 games this season. He appeared in two preseason games for the NHL club in September.
He signed a one-year, two-way deal with Pittsburgh in July worth US$550,000 at the NHL level.
