COLUMN BY BRAD MACCALLUM
There are a couple of classy veterans in this race who lack the speed they once had but still know how to win. I went with Majestic Reins B last week and will put my faith in him again this week, he will also offer some value for you $2
PH Buddy was a winner against very similar competition last week in 2:01, look for a similar effort and result this week.
Secret Fantasy has been one of the most consistent horses in the $2000 claimer all year. He hasn’t found the winner’s circle in a few starts but should be able to handle his foes.
Scarlet Chaser has been racing against some of the top three-year-old colts in the Maritimes. He has faced challenges staying on gait but will be a winner by open lengths- if he behaves himself.
Arizona Bucks is the morning line favourite but has been off for a couple of weeks since his uncharacteristic break in stride. Given this, I will give the edge to PH Sunshine.
Winner Panic has proven to be a good fit in this class and will use the rail to her advantage to get a jump and hope no one can catch her.
Island Ambition has been a little inconsistent with his efforts this summer but can win Race #7.
Access Key has been putting on a speed show in the past couple weeks and will give veteran driver Emmons MacKay is second front-running win of the day.
Neigh Monster took a new lifetime mark last week in 1:56.3, I don’t that effort will return this week. If you are looking for consistency, go with St Lads Dagwood
Sock It To Em has shown great improvement over the past number of weeks but will have to hold off Putnams New Year.
Longshot with a chance - Pasta Vera in Race #7
Safe set of the day - Secret Fantasy in Race #3
