Bearcats close out senior baseball season with a loss

TRURO - The Dartmouth Moosehead Dry jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and cruised to a 13-3 victory over the Truro Bearcats in the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League Monday.

It was the final game of the season for the Bearcats, who finished with a 9-23 record and missed the playoffs for a fourth straight year.

Darren Doucette clubbed a two-run home run for the Dry, while Jeff Reeves had a pair of doubles. Tony Stewart singled and doubled for the Bearcats, while Joe MacPherson swatted an RBI doubled and Jeff Chisholm doubled.

Jason Bailey was the winning pitcher and Josh Fushtey sufferd the loss.

Dartmouth scored four times in the second inning and added two more in the fourth. Truro clawed back and trailed 6-3 after seven innings, before the visitors scored three in the eighth and four in the ninth.
