TRURO – Colleen Pinkney suffered her first loss of the Nova Scotia Senior Women’s Curling Championship Thursday in Digby.

Pinkney’s Truro Curling Club rink, which also includes mate Wendy Currie, second Shelley MacNutt and lead Susan Creelman,, was handed an 8-1 setback by Mayflower’s Mary Mattatall in the afternoon draw on the second day of the event.

The loss drops Pinkney to 1-1.

Pinkney, the 2010 senior women’s world champion, is back in action tonight when she faces Mayflower’s Colleen Jones (1-1) at 7:30 p.m.

Mattatall built a comfortable 6-0 lead by the fourth end by scoring two points in each of the second, third and fourth ends. Pinkney scored a single in the fifth before Mattatall put up another deuce to end the contest in six.
