TRURO – Jordan Coccimiglio will return to the Truro junior A Bearcats hockey team.

The six-foot-one, 199-pound centre will arrive in the Hubtown on Jan. 20 to rejoin his teammates after a more than two-month absence.

“When we finalize our roster (Thursday), he will be on it and he will be returning,” Bearcats coach Shawn Evans said Wednesday night after his team’s 6-5 shootout win over the Amherst Ramblers.

Coccimiglio, 19, has been out of the Truro lineup since Nov. 4 due to injuries (shoulder, wrist and thumb) and personal matters. He has spent the past two months at home in Burlington, Ont., and will spend the next week there to finish physiotherapy before joining the Bearcats.

“We’re ecstatic as a team to get him back,” Evans said. “He’s a very good, steady hockey player and person, and it means a lot to me.”

Coccimiglio, a former major junior player in the Ontario Hockey League, has eight goals and 12 points in 16 games for the Bearcats.

After taking 18 games to finally suffer their first regulation loss with Coccomiglio in the lineup, the Bearcats have just seven wins in 15 games in his absence.
