Cougars finish second overall in home tourney

TRURO - After a loss, the CEC Cougars basketball team won two in a row to claim the second overall spot at their home tournament this weekend.

The Cougars faced Fredericton in their first game of the annual tip-off tournament and lost 86-75.

Taran Jordan lead the scoring for CEC with 17 points, followed by Andreas Foerster with 12.

Following the loss, the Cougars had a 76-66 win over Sir John A. and a 96-79 win over Dartmouth, both games of which were played on Saturday.

Jordan lead the scoring with 18 points against Sir John A., with Chris Fitzgerald and Eshaan Haque both netting 13.

In the win against Dartmouth, Lars Hopp banked 20 points for the Cougars, with Jordan picking up 17 and Jarod Horsman coming in with 15.

"They played really well," said head coach Marc Roberts.

The Cougars will host Parkview Educational Centre on Friday at 8 pm. at Truro Junior High School, and Horton High at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the junior high.
