To the editor,
It is with regret that I read the last piece by Hattie Dyck in the May 31, 2104, edition of the Truro Daily News.
I have followed her writings both in the paper as well as in books. I appreciated her ability to view a subject with fairness and objectivity. I also had the honour of meeting with her a number of times. Although we didn't always agree, I always was dealt with in a respectful manner. A champion for the people is a thought that just came to mind as I tried to summarize what I felt she stood for.
I wish her many years of blissful retirement, but, I find it difficult to imagine her "retiring," sitting on the veranda in her rocking chair, sipping warm milk, with a shawl over her shoulders (the definition from my childhood of retired persons). I am sure she will contribute much to our community.
